Ana Inciardi made just 100 numbered, hand-signed Smiley mini prints for the Together Together pop-up in Manhattan. They started appearing in the machine in late August, and collectors have already found them in multiple colors.
Now Vault is building the full catalogue, one number at a time. This page is the record of what has surfaced and what has not.
Ana Inciardi made one hundred of these for the Harry Styles pop-up in Manhattan. Each one is numbered and signed by hand. They live in a single machine, in a single pop-up, in one city, and the only way to get one is a dollar and a great deal of luck. The pop-up closes on the first of November and the machine goes with it.
One mark for every copy in the edition. Solid means we know where it went.
A tangerine square is a copy we have verified. Everything dashed is still out there.
There is one machine, and this is it. Five prints per person, a dollar a go, and no way to improve your odds.
The Smiley prints were already in collectors' hands when Harry Styles' September 10 campaign rolled out with bright colors and hand-drawn spiral-eye faces that looked very familiar.
We do not know if the connection was intentional. We do know the prints were already out in the world.
Not from Ana and not from us. The only way to get one is the machine at the Together Together pop-up, a dollar, and luck. Every copy is numbered, and the wall is the record of which numbers have surfaced.
The pop-up closes and the machine leaves. Any smileys still inside leave with it.
A printmaker from Brooklyn, now in Portland, Maine. She dreamed the machine up in 2020 during the coin shortage, as a way to collect quarters for the laundromat, and put the first one out in the winter of 2022. There are more than a hundred now, all of them a dollar, on the principle that art should be cheap enough to hand out.
Seven at last count, and six of them are exclusive to this machine. The smiley is the only numbered one.
Pulled one? Traded for one? Seen one in someone's collection? Send us the number and a photo so we can add it to the catalogue.
