Spring Peeper

The Spring Peeper shows a small brown frog in profile, posed mid-step against a clean white ground. The coloring moves through warm tawny and amber tones, with subtle darker markings across the back and a pale, softened belly. The frog faces right, one hind leg extended, giving the composition a quiet sense of forward motion.

Ana Inciardi's rendering is naturalistic but economical, capturing the texture and proportion of a very small creature with genuine care. Spring Peepers are tiny chorus frogs native to eastern North America, recognized by their high-pitched calls that signal the arrival of spring. They are among the smallest frogs on the continent, rarely exceeding an inch in length, and are often heard long before they are seen.

This Ana Inciardi mini print draws collectors who respond to her animal subjects, a thread that runs consistently through her catalog alongside her botanical and food work. There is something appealing about how she gives a creature this small the same quiet dignity she brings to larger or more familiar subjects. Collectors who are drawn to the natural world tend to seek out this print specifically, appreciating both its subject and the restrained palette that keeps it feeling intimate rather than decorative.

The handwritten label at the bottom, noting both the common name and the artist's initials, adds to the handmade character that her mini prints are known for. It pairs naturally with her other animal prints and sits well alongside any collection built around North American wildlife or quiet natural observation.
